Urban Permaculture Landscape

"Paula and her team created a detailed landscaping plan for our entire yard and implemented the plan for the front portion of the yard. The design incorporates the permaculture concept, which means using environmentally friendly methods, plants that support each other and the environment, and low maintenance (water and other inputs) over time. We have already enjoyed harvesting food and flowers out of the yard, and the birds already appear to be on it too. The design was well thought out and met our goals of using native plants, creating habitat for birds and butterflys, adding colorful and appealing perennials, and providing some harvest (fruits, nuts, veggies and herbs.) The design, plants and installation are included in the cost. We did negotiatie a bit of a price reduction by helping with the installation. We love the design and things look good so far. It will take another season or two for the plantings to really fill out, but already you can see how the permaculture design will take hold. Paula was very good about educating us about the benefits of permaculture and responding to our questions throughout the process. Her crew was great to work with and did a terrific job on the installations. Pricing was a bit of a stretch for us (probably comparable to traditional landscaping for design and installation costs), but we believe it will be well worth it in the long run."

Heirloom Garlic

"We're on bag number three of our garlic. It's storing perfectly, and we love having this seemingly endless supply in the basement. Here's to enjoying the fruits of your labor, all year round!"

Rain Gardens and Edible Berms

"Rain gardens were really helpful to us, they stopped the rain runoff, which was a big piece of the picture for us. It was important to add as many edibles as possible, very different from a traditional garden and more functional. Also, the berms are unique, making accessible, fun to walk on the paths and pick food. Beautiful gardens and also functional."

Low Maintenance Sustainable Garden

"I hired this company to design a complete plan for landscaping my yard, to involve creating a low-maintenance, sustainable garden (edible and other plants) that did not require the use of chemicals. I was very impressed with Paula and her employees. They seem very knowledgable about what kind of plants to use and how they can be used together. They prepared a site plan that can be executed in stages, which included detailed information regarding all the recommended plant species. I intend to start putting the plan to work next spring, and will continue to work with Paula to finish the garden in accordance with their design."

Harvesting the Backyard

"We have had/are having so much fun with the yard. My mom and I LOVE chard. We've been cooking it like crazy and finally got sick of it! I did some experimenting with sorrel, too...not bad! It's so good to have something different. We were blessed with a few amazingly delicious pears. Kriss picked the Honeycrisp apples early and they were still yummy. Just tonight Zada and I picked some carrots for the first time. She was so fired up that her eyes about popped out of her head..."Can we eat it right now?!" It warms a mom's heart to have her three year old beg for a carrot!"
